Coffee Museum and Wanderings

Bryan and I got up early (well, earlier) today and left for the Coffee Museum around 11. His parents own a coffee shop and bookstore, and of course I work at the infamous Global Village, so we were uniquely interested in what this museum had to offer us. As it turns out, not much! It was really small - just two rooms. It was interesting and fun anyway. There were lots of examples of different kinds of coffee, and green beans, which I had never seen before.
After we got some coffee, we got a little bit more comfortable around each other and wandered around a bit. We came upon this little shop that sold beer mugs, and then found the John Lennon Memorial wall. It was a really cool graffiti wall that was similar to the Free Expression tunnel. Past the wall was a neat little bridge where there were bars on the edge, and locks locked on to the bars. Apparently newly engaged lovers put a lock on the bridge, and then toss the key into the river, symbolizing the permanence of their new commitment.
We passed by the Kampa museum, and saw some more strange babies like the ones on the TV tower near our hostel. Crossing back over the river, we came across the Globe bookstore, a small English language bookstore that also is a cafe. We had 1'o'clock brunch and cocktails, and then I bought a few books.
Headed home after that, and I did all my laundry which was quite a bit, actually. It is much more convenient to do it at the hostel surely, but the effort put in is almost worth the cost of doing it at the laundromat.
Around 8pm we went out to U Fleku. It is apparently the oldest or one of the oldest breweries in Prague. The beer was really dark, but also really smooth and was delicious. There were musicians who wandered around and played to people and we had just the right amount of people at the table. The one awkward part is when one of the waiters came around to offer us shots. He acted like they were free handouts, but we all knew better because of our guidebooks. So, we told him no. Then he continued to insist on us taking them. "They are traditional. Traditional!" He kept repeating. Finally he just gave us a nasty look and went away.
5 of the group headed out to meet the rest of the guys who were at a sports bar to watch the beginning of March Madness. Blakeley and Laura-Nelle and I headed home.
